FOUR GATEWAYS

Different airports. Different next steps.

Start with the airport on your actual ticket. KEF and RKV are separate airports, not two terminals.

KEFReykjanes · Southwest Iceland

Keflavík International Airport

The main international gateway sits outside the capital. Compare the airport coach, public bus 55, pre-booked direct rides and rental-car collection.

Reykjavík corridor · about 50 km
RKVReykjavík · Capital region

Reykjavík Domestic Airport

The city airport serves domestic connections and is much closer to downtown than KEF. Confirm your airline’s terminal before arranging pickup.

City centre · around 2 km
AEYAkureyri · North Iceland

Akureyri Airport

A short local transfer brings you into town. For North Iceland stops beyond Akureyri, compare collecting a rental car with a pre-arranged local ride.

Akureyri centre · about 3 km
EGSEgilsstaðir · East Iceland

Egilsstaðir Airport

Town access is quick. For remote accommodation, the Eastfjords or a road trip, plan the next leg and vehicle collection before landing.

Connecting KEF with RKV?

Collect checked bags and transfer by road between airports. Normal road driving takes approximately 45–60 minutes. Icelandair separately recommends reserving about 60 minutes for taxi/private-car transfer or 90 minutes for bus transfer. Baggage collection/re-check, check-in, security and extra connection margin are additional. Read the separate airport-connection route before relying on a tight booking.
